Habitat
Anadromous, occurs in the ocean and lakes. Adults migrate up to 4,827 km upstream to spawn in rivers. May also spawn in lakes. Most alevins remain in freshwater for 1-2 years and feed on insects and crustaceans. Seaward migration follows and adults feed on fishes, crustaceans and other invertebrates.
